The National Library of Belarus and the Standing Committee of the Union State are taking their cultural and educational cooperation to a new level. A landmark event in this partnership will be the opening of the Union State Hall, which is scheduled for December 8 — the symbolic date of signing the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State, reports a Soyuz.by correspondent.

As Deputy Director General of the National Library Lyudmila Vysotskaya reported at a press conference dedicated to the Day of Libraries, the new Hall will contain a unique collection of publications dedicated to the centuries-old history of the fraternal peoples of Belarus and Russia. The collection will include materials on the rich culture and common traditions, as well as on the dynamic development of economic and political relations between the two countries. This space will become not just a repository of books, but a living center for the preservation and enhancement of our common spiritual heritage.

The speaker also noted that on September 6-7, the Standing Committee of the Union State presented new volumes of the publishing project "Library of the Union State" at the XXXII Day of Belarusian Literature in Lida. A series of books was presented at the stand located in the pavilion of the National Library of Belarus, telling about the common pages of the history of Belarusians and Russians, the glorious sons of the Fatherland: educators Francisk Skaryna and Ivan Fedorov, scientists Simeon Polotsky, Mikhail Lomonosov, Dmitry Mendeleyev, famous commanders and military operations. The publications contain unique archival materials and research essays, as well as rare illustrations and photos.

In addition, Vysotskaya noted that the key event of the events dedicated to the Day of Libraries will be the opening of the exhibition "Belarus united. Let the historical saints" on September 17, dedicated to the Day of National Unity. "The exhibition will feature rare maps, photographs, archival documents and book publications dedicated to the fate of the Belarusian people and the reunification of Western Belarus and the BSSR in 1939," she noted.

The library lives a very busy life all year round and holds socio-cultural and educational events. Among other upcoming major events is the autumn ball. It will be organized for the Day of Culture and will take place on October 11.

"Amateur dance groups are coming, and many people will come to get acquainted with their work. Theatrical stages will be organized where you can watch the batleika and meet the artists," said Lyudmila Vysotskaya.
