A working meeting between Yuri Seliverstov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation, and Ivan Melnikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, took place in Moscow. The main topic of the talks was the development of interparliamentary dialogue within the Union State.

The parties discussed preparations for two key events in 2026: the regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia and the International Forum "Great Heritage – Common Future." Yuri Seliverstov praised the effectiveness of the Parliamentary Assembly's work and noted the importance of consistently implementing a common historical policy. The effective work of the Commission for the Preservation and Protection of Historical Memory, established in 2025, was particularly commended.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of joint projects in patriotic education of the younger generation. Participants emphasized the importance of this work for strengthening union ties and commended the work of the Youth Chamber of the Parliamentary Assembly. The Belarusian Ambassador expressed gratitude to Ivan Melnikov for his personal contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation at the parliamentary level.
