Lukashenko in Victory Day congratulations: Belarus calls on all states to engage in dialogue

09:50, 9 May

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated fellow Belarusians on the 81st anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

My fellow Belarusians!

I congratulate you on the 81st anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

9 May 1945 has forever become a sacred date for every Belarusian, a reminder of the great feat of Red Army soldiers, partisans, and underground resistance fighters — our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who brought peace and freedom to the native land and to all of humanity.

Today we are increasingly aware of the responsibility for preserving the fragile security on the planet so as not to repeat the tragedy of the past.

Therefore, Belarus calls on all states to choose dialogue instead of conflicts, development instead of destruction, and to preserve the legacy of the Great Victory for the sake of a happy future of new generations.

Our duty is to be worthy of the memory of our heroic ancestors who managed to endure harsh trials, crush fascism, and raise their wounded country from the ruins.

A low bow to our dear veterans, eternal memory to the fallen soldiers, patriots, and innocent victims of the ruthless war.

I am convinced that the truth about the Great Victory will continue to be that high moral truth that links generations, defines values, unites, and inspires creation.

I wish everyone strong health, good fortune, and well-being.

Happy Victory Day!

Aleksandr Lukashenko.
