More than 600 athletes from 56 countries will compete in 79 medal events in six sports: para cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowboarding and alpine skiing, sledge hockey and wheelchair curling.
Four representatives of Belarus will also vie for medals, competing in uniforms with national symbols. Valiantsina Biryla, Lidziya Loban, Darya Fedzkovich andRaman Svirydzenkawill compete in cross-country skiing events. The Paralympians have already arrived in Italy and have tested the tracks.
“We are staying in the Paralympic Village, which is located not far from the ski stadium in Predazzo. The conditions are good; the Olympic Games were held here before, and other tournaments are often organized. So everything is well-established. We will take part in the opening ceremony with the national flag and emblem,” said Nikolai Shudeiko, Secretary General of the Paralympic Committee of Belarus.
The Belarusian skiers will begin their Olympic campaign on 10 March with the sprints. Individual 10 km classic style races will take place on 11 March. Relay races are scheduled for 14 March, and individual 20 km freestyle races will take place on the final day of the Paralympics, 15 March.
