Several thousand servicemen from different parts of the country are practicing their marching steps on the parade ground of the capital's military commandant's office. These are the first garrison training sessions, and a total of 18 rehearsals are planned. The foot part of the parade will be based on elements of the 1945 Victory Day celebrations that took place on Moscow's Red Square.
Foreign servicemen from friendly countries such as Russia and China are expected to arrive soon. Banner groups with the flags of the CIS countries will also be presented. At the same time, a mechanized column is training at the Lipki airfield. The legendary T-34 tanks are in the front row, followed by armored vehicles, as well as wheeled and tracked vehicles, communications and electronic warfare systems. This year, on May 9, spectators will be able to see the famous machine gun carts for the first time.
