The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held in Vitebsk in 2024 under the motto “Science is the future of the Union State”, Vitebsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Subbotin told journalists at a meeting-requiem in Vitebsk, BelTA has learned.

“There is still a year before the next Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, and there is time to get ready. The suggested motto is “Science is the future of the Union State”. This motto is meant to highlight development prospects of our countries. We plan to show all exhibitions and events focusing on young people, science, opportunities. We want to show it through the prism of our traditions, history. The forum will be co-located in two cities, one of which is Polotsk, the most ancient city of Belarus, the cradle of our statehood and one of the centers of Slavic culture. We want to show all brothers, guests, friends the origins of Belarus, as well as temples, historical places, St. Sophia Cathedral. So far, the concept is the following: Through history, traditions into the future through science,” the governor noted.

Answering journalists' questions about cross-border cooperation, the governor stressed that it had never stopped. “We have always been friends, visited each other, run some joint projects. Many Belarusian families have relatives in Russia - in Smolensk Oblast, in Pskov Oblast, and they do not feel disadvantaged in any way. They can move between the two countries and communicate in any format. And in general, cross-border cooperation is important from the point of view of how the closest nations communicate with each other,” said Aleksandr Subbotin.
