Belarus, Russia to sign roadmap on machine tools manufacturing in September

The development of a draft action program (roadmap) on advancing cooperation between the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry in the field of machine tools manufacturing is nearing completion. The document is being developed within the framework of the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the development of the machine tools industry. The roadmap is expected to be signed in Minsk in September 2023, the press service of the Belarusian Industry Ministry told BelTA.

The roadmap provides for enabling conditions conducive to the establishment and maintenance of direct ties and to the advancement of manufacturing cooperation, in the course of which Belarusian and Russian manufacturers of machine tool products could implement joint projects, set up joint ventures to make machine tools, and work out proposals on developing state support measures for manufacturers of machine tool products of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The roadmap also includes the realization of the Union Machine Tool project. The project provides for creating a machine tool out of components made in Belarus and Russia.
BelTA reported earlier that the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the development of the machine tools industry was signed on the sidelines of the international industrial expo Innoprom in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg in July 2023. The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
The agreement was signed with a view to advancing cooperation in the field of development, manufacturing, and use of machine tool products, components for machine tools in the interests of Belarusian and Russian commercial entities. Among other things the agreement envisages the planning and implementation of joint programs and projects in the area of the machine tools industry as well as mutual exchange of scientific, technical information between Belarusian and Russian commercial entities in various aspects of the machine tools industry. Apart from that, the agreement provides for cooperation in the form of fairs and exhibitions of industrial goods, for the organization of business forums involving representatives of Belarus' and Russia's trade, industrial, and business circles.
The realization of the intergovernmental agreement in the field of development of the machine tools industry opens up new opportunities for the Belarusian economy and the Russian economy to grow.
