Belarus, Russia's St. Petersburg map out steps to promote cooperation in science

Belarus and Russia's St. Petersburg approved a list of priority areas of cooperation in science and technology. The projects carried out jointly by educational and scientific organizations in these areas will be supported in 2023-2025. The decision was made at a web-based meeting of the Belarusian-St. Petersburg working group on science and technology under the leadership of First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus Andrei Kosovsky and Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education of St. Petersburg Andrei Maksimov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian State Committee on Science and Technology.

The priority areas of cooperation include: digital information and communication and interdisciplinary technologies, manufacturing based on them; biological, medical, pharmaceutical and chemical technologies and manufacturing; energy, construction, ecology and environmental management; mechanical engineering and machine-building technologies, instrumentation and innovative materials; agricultural and food technologies. The procedure and terms for the competitive selection of projects were approved as well.
The working group is implementing a roadmap to support joint science and technology projects carried out jointly by educational and scientific organizations located in St. Petersburg and Belarus for 2023-2025. It was signed at the 13th meeting of the Business Cooperation Council of Belarus and St. Petersburg on 20 April 2023. The roadmap includes steps in terms of competitive selection of projects, their financing and monitoring their effectiveness.
