Russia tells off U.S. ambassador to prevent interference in Belarus' affairs

Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Rudenko talked to U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan over the phone. The conversation was arranged upon the initiative of the U.S. side. Andrei Rudenko stressed the inadmissibility of interference in Belarus' domestic affairs, BelTA learned from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

The conversation focused on the latest events in Belarus and the situation concerning the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Russian side stressed the inadmissibility of any interference in domestic political processes, inadmissibility of destabilization attempts and attempts to enforce unilateral mediator services from the outside. The promising nature of the initiative to amend the Constitution in order to liberalize Belarus' political system with assistance of the civil society, labor collectives, and business circles was noted.
