Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Yuri Seliverstov talked about the volume of mutual investments on the air of the First News TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“The volume of mutual investments is about $5 billion,” Yuri Seliverstov stated, adding that the volume of Belarusian investments is on par with that of the Russian ones. “At least according to January-July results we are at parity,” he said. “We are even a little ahead of the contribution of Russians.”

“Just as our trade turnover is balanced, so foreign investments (especially direct ones) roughly correspond to our contribution. If we have invested a little over $5 billion in assembly enterprises in the Russian Federation, then colleagues from Russia also invest this kind of money in the development of manufacturing in Belarus,” the ambassador added.

Speaking about what other matters it is important to address in Belarusian-Russian relations before the end of 2026, Yuri Seliverstov noted: “There are probably no matters in need of instant attention. But, for example, matters of electronic digital signatures, matters of carrier access, working out [the national proof of delivery system] SPOT specifically as part of the Union State [of Belarus and Russia], they are on the agenda right now.”

As for the matters of the logistics involved in transshipping Belarusian cargoes via the ports of the Russian Federation, Yuri Seliverstov emphasized: “They are always there because additional systems are being introduced. Thus, SPOT is being worked out in order to accelerate movement, increase transparency.”

The ambassador indicated that emerging issues are resolved by mutual efforts and relevant documents are being prepared. In his words, this is constant work that is necessary and important.
