Vice premier: Belarus’ cooperation with Russian company TVEL picks up steam

Cooperation with the Russian fuel company TVEL is gaining momentum across many areas, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich stated during a meeting with the company's leadership, the press service of Belarus' Energy Ministry told BelTA.

“Cooperation with the company spans many areas. First and foremost, it involves the supply of nuclear fuel for the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP), support in implementing the project to construct a facility for radioactive waste disposal and personnel training for this site. We have signed corresponding agreements and a roadmap. As a part of the comprehensive program of Russian-Belarusian cooperation in nuclear non-energy and non-nuclear projects we are implementing new high-tech projects to develop additive technologies, energy storage systems and developing a component base for electric vehicles," Viktor Karankevich emphasized.

The parties also discussed the results of joint work, current issues related to cooperation in fuel supply, e-mobility, energy storage systems, additive technologies and other topics.

Attending the meeting were also Belarus' Energy Minister Denis Moroz, representatives of the Nuclear Energy Department of the Energy Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the the Emergencies Ministry Ministry, Rosatom State Corporation and others. The Russian delegation was led by TVEL President Natalia Nikipelova.
