St. Petersburg to buy more Belarusian machinery

St. Petersburg plans to purchase more Belarusian machinery, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov said as he met with State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, BelTA has learned.

“The participants of the meeting discussed plans to expand cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Republic of Belarus. The head of the city noted that products made by Belarus' largest vehicle manufacturers are in demand in the city,” the governor's press service said.

“St. Petersburg is increasing purchases of rolling stock, road and construction machinery and cleaning equipment from the Republic of Belarus,” said Alexander Beglov.

He also confirmed the city's readiness to host high school students from Minsk  who won the “How I Know St. Petersburg” contest. “The municipal government will pay for their trips and excursions,” the press service noted.

Dmitry Mezentsev told the governor about preparations in the Union State to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. He noted that this year's program provides for a much greater number of patriotic and humanitarian events compared to previous years.

Dmitry Mezentsev also spoke about the work to restore and preserve historical sites in the Brest Fortress and the construction of a memorial complex on Buinichi Field in Mogilev Oblast.

Dmitry Mezentsev emphasized the importance of the Union State's programs and projects to develop advanced technologies.
