The Russian corporation Technonicol intends to invest at least $40 million in a wooden housing construction project in Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia told BelTA following a meeting between Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi and top executives of the Russian company.

"We discussed a large-scale investment project that the Russian company plans to implement at Belarus' largest sawmill in Borisov. The company plans to invest at least $40 million within a year and a half. The sawmill will switch to the manufacture of products with high added value - elements of wooden houses (beams, wall materials, structural elements). They will be sold through the Technonicol production and sales system in the growing Russian market," the press service said.

"In Belarus, this is the first project of such scale. It will increase the added value of roundwood processing by 3 to 4 times. Only one project of this scale has been implemented in Russia at present," the diplomatic mission added.
