Karelia is interested in Belarusian-made elevators and fish feed, Head of Russia's Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov said during a meeting with Belarusian Forestry Minister Aleksandr Kulik, BelTA has learned.

"Belarus is one of the important partners of Karelia. We are working to promote our close cooperation. Our trade is increasing. In particular, imports from Belarus are on the rise. A number of joint important projects are in progress," Artur Parfenchikov emphasized.
Among these projects Artur Parfenchikov mentioned OOO Amkodor-Onego that manufactures logging equipment. "We will continue to cooperate in this sector. We have big plans," Artur Parfenchikov said.
Among the important commodities that Karelia has started to import from Belarus recently he singled out elevators and fish feed. According to him, these are important commodities for the economy of Karelia. So is the expertise and competences in the timber industry and reforestation.
The head of the Republic of Karelia added that there is an agreement on cooperation in social welfare and culture. "We will continue to develop relations with Belarus, we understand their importance," he noted.
