The number of electric vehicles in use in Belarus has already reached 41 thousand. The figure was mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Viktor Karankevich during the international forum Russian Energy Week in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

The event was moderated by Sergey Brilev, President of the Global Energy Association. He shared an observation that practically one in two of the Belarusian automobiles on Moscow Oblast roads has green vehicle registration plates, which indicate that those are electric vehicles.

In response Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Viktor Karankevich quoted specific figures. “At present as many as 41 thousand electric vehicles are in use in the Republic of Belarus. And every month the number of electric vehicles grows higher,” he said.

The deputy prime minister stated that this trend is fueled by very active and systemic efforts to develop the electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

“But I have a feeling that their number is even larger,” the moderator of the event noted.
