The production of Belarusian motorcycles has been launched in Vyazma, Smolensk Oblast of Russia, Belarus’ ambassador to Russia Yuri Seliverstov told journalists, BelTA reports.

The ambassador visited Vyazma Machine-Building Plant on 22 May during a trip to Smolensk Oblast. The Vyazma enterprise is implementing a project with Minsk-based MotoVelo Plant to assemble two motorcycle models. At the plant, the parties discussed in detail the next steps in their cooperative partnership, localization of production, and the organization of sales of Minsk motorcycles and bicycles in the region, including through multi-brand centers.

The Vyazma enterprise had previously specialized in manufacturing industrial washing and ironing equipment. Recently, this product has become less in demand. “The Belarusian partners proposed that they carry out joint assembly of motorcycles from MotoVelo Plant. Given that they have both the facilities and the expertise, they began this work. The work is going quite well, all documents have been finalized, and all permits have been obtained. The first batches of motorcycles have already been assembled. There is strong confidence that we will further create a system to promote this equipment,” said Yuri Seliverstov.

“The first customers have already been secured, and they have given positive feedback. I see this as an interesting and important project for market diversification for our colleagues in Vyazma and for us alike,” the ambassador added.
