A forum for businesswomen of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is supposed to take place in May, BelTA learned from an interview with Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar, BELTA has learned.

The minister spoke about the Economy Ministry’s initiatives to support businesswomen. “The most important area is the promotion of international cooperation. In May together with our partners, the Belarusian Women’s Union and the Minsk City Executive Committee, we will hold a forum for women entrepreneurs of the Union State. We hope that the forum will become a platform for productive exchange of experience, development of industrial cooperation ties, and new acquaintances between businesswomen of our countries, which will grow into joint projects. We invite women to become more actively involved in these initiatives. Today conditions have been created in which an idea can receive professional support and become a successful business,” said Yuri Chebotar.

He also noted that one of the objectives of the social and economic development program for 2026-2030 is to provide more opportunities for women with young children to fulfill themselves at work. “Our BusinessMAMA competition, which debuted last year, is aimed precisely at women raising children under the age of three. We see that it has become kind of a launching pad for the participants. The winners of the competition have already taken the first steps in creating their own businesses,” the minister said.

Launched in 2024, the information project “The tenderness of Belarusian business” also plays an important motivational role. “The stories of women who successfully combine entrepreneurship and motherhood are not only a recognition of their contribution, but also an incentive for other enterprising Belarusian women. After all, starting any business is not easy, and I am sure that the example of our charming businesswomen and mothers of many children will inspire many,” the economy minister emphasized.

He spoke at length about the Resources and Opportunities project. “Thanks to this advisory platform more than 1,000 aspiring businesswomen have been able to obtain recommendations on the practical aspects of business registration, taxation, marketing, and financial planning, thereby accelerating the implementation of their ideas. I would also like to mention the Growth Practice contest, which was launched at the end of last year as part of the Resources and Opportunities project. Its distinctive feature is mentoring: every participant who made it to the semifinals was assigned a mentor from among experienced entrepreneurs and given an opportunity to take their project to a whole new level. About 100 people took part in it: we will find out who the winner is on 13 March,” said Yuri Chebotar.
