New historical maximum: Belarus' gold and foreign exchange reserves increased to $12.4 billion

Belarus' gold and foreign exchange reserves as of September 1, according to preliminary data, amounted to $12.413 billion in equivalent. Such data has been published on the website of the National Bank, BelTA has learned.

In August 2025, gold and foreign exchange reserves increased by $471.4 million (3.9%) after rising by more than $400 million in July.

Foreign currency assets and monetary gold account for the largest share in the structure of Belarus' international reserve assets. According to the National Bank, the volume of foreign currency in reserves as of September 1 amounted to $5.0688 billion, having increased by $251.8 million (by 5.2%) in August, the volume of monetary gold - $5.9395 billion, having increased by $225.1 million (by 3.9%).

According to the monetary policy targets, the volume of Belarus' international reserve assets by the end of 2025 should be at least $7.1 billion.
