Chebotar: UNDP will facilitate Belarus’ social, economic development

The activities of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Belarus will facilitate the country's social and economic development and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said at a meeting with Renfei Liu, incoming Resident Representative of UNDP in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Economy Ministry.

"Belarus and UNDP have gained considerable experience of cooperation in a number of major areas. Today, our country is starting to launch medium- and long-term social and economic development programs," Yuri Chebotar emphasized. "For its part, UNDP is launching a new five-year country program in Belarus. We are interested in attracting UNDP experts and technical and financial resources."

The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation and financing the country’s development projects at the national and local levels. The parties agreed to continue contacts at the expert level in order to implement the agreements reached during the meeting.
