The Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) has produced a total of over 59 billion kWh of electricity, Aleksandr Rakavchuk, head of the BelNPP radiation safety workshop, said in the latest episode of BelTA’s Nation Speaks project.

Aleksandr Rakavchuk noted that the operation of the BelNPP first and second power units is proceeding as scheduled, with both units operating at 100% capacity. “To date, the total electricity generation since the plant began operation stands at over 59 billion kWh, which accounts for about 40% of our country’s needs,” he said.

Current operation of the two power units shows that, under radiation monitoring, no impact on public exposure levels or on the environment has been recorded. All indicators remain within strictly regulated limits. “Therefore, for the country’s sustainable economic development, additional power capacity will likely be necessary,” Aleksandr Rakavchuk concluded.
