Belarusian MAZ ships batch of buses to Russia's Yamal

Deputy commercial director for sales of passenger equipment of MAZ, managing company of the BelavtoMAZ holding company Vladimir Dormash has handed over 11 new passenger buses MAZ-203 to Salekhard Bus Company (Russia) in an official ceremony, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia.

MAZ-203 is a low-floor passenger transport of a large class, adapted to transport people on urban and suburban routes. Low floor helps easy boarding and unloading of passengers, and body tilting system reduces the time of stops and increases travel speed. Passenger capacity of the bus is up to 90 people.
New MAZ buses are environmentally friendly and economical, running on gas fuel. The vehicles are equipped with a special air suspension for transportation of people with limited mobility. The buses are equipped with heaters, air conditioners, and floors with anti-slip coating.
The new buses will be registered with the State Automobile Inspectorate within a week, after which they will hit the road. According to Salekhard Mayor Alexey Titovsky, it is a landmark event for the municipality, as the passenger traffic is increasing annually and is now about 7,000 passengers a day. “Part of them will replace obsolete buses that have already exhausted their resource. First of all, we plan to reduce waiting time on the existing routes,” he said.
In addition to Salekhard, the capital of Yamal, four new MAZ-206 buses went to the city of Gubkinsky. In 2022, plans are in place to further renew the bus fleet with new MAZ vehicles in the cities of Noyabrsk, Labytnangi, Novy Urengoy and Muravlenko, Nadymsky and Yamal districts of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
MAZ is one of Belarus' largest mechanical engineering companies. It specializes in making heavy-duty trucks, special-purpose vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, and trailing units. MAZ is a well-known international brand. MAZ vehicles are compliant with the environmental standards Euro-5 and Euro-6. The company makes a total of over 500 models and 3,000 modifications of tractor units, dropside trucks, and chassis for mounting various kinds of equipment.
