“Kaluga Oblast is a long-standing and reliable partner of Belarus. It is among the top 20 Russian regions in terms of trade turnover with our country. The parties discussed the current (dynamic and diverse) agenda of interaction, the progress in implementing the agreements reached during the April meeting between Vladislav Shapsha and the Belarusian head of state,” the press service said.
Special consideration was given to the partnership between the Belarusian automaker MAZ and the Kaluga-based road and municipal machinery manufacturer Mercator, the establishment of a multi-brand center of Belarusian engineering goods in this Russian region (initially a maintenance center and in the future a trade center), cooperation in agricultural industry: from the construction of farms using Belarusian technologies to the exchange of seed stock.
The development of direct air service between Minsk and Kaluga was also discussed. According to the embassy, the Kaluga regional authorities are considering the possibility of increasing the frequency of flights.
“We discussed cooperation in the construction sector. Belarusian specialists have built almost 480,000 square meters of housing, kindergartens and schools for 10,200 places in the region. Vladislav Shapsha invited Aleksandr Rogozhnik to look at the objects under construction and inaugurate one of the completed projects during a visit to Kaluga Oblast,” the press service added.
