Belarusian air carrier Belavia to buy Russian aircraft

Belavia intends to buy aircraft of Russian manufacture, BelTA learned from Belavia Director General Igor Cherginets at a press conference dedicated to Civil Aviation Workers' Day.

According to the CEO, Belavia is in negotiations with the Russian Federation. “We are in very intensive talks. We are preparing agreements with Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) on buying MC-21 aircraft and Sukhoi Superjet new aircraft. We are waiting for the Russian Federation to make these aircraft. Some of them are already being trialed with various engines. The aircraft are not ready yet but in 2024-2026 they are supposed to become airworthy and begin commercial operation,” Igor Cherginets noted.
