He named the development of the Union State railway infrastructure a very important issue. “Last year the cargo traffic from Belarus to Russia exceeded 14 million tonnes, which included 12.9 million of cargo that went to the north-west of Russia. Certainly, we are working hard on improving the infrastructure of Russian ports on the Baltic Sea and further in the northwest so that they will be able to handle more Belarusian cargo,” he said.
“We will work together. Obviously, infrastructure development requires huge funds. The work to improve railroads and increase capacity requires investments that were probably not planned before,” the state secretary said.
“However, the task has been set. The presidents were actively involved in this discussion, giving specific instructions to ministries and the governments in general,” Dmitry Mezentsev added.
