Belarus, Rosatom sign documents on cooperation in radioactive waste, ecology, digital technologies

Belarusian government agencies and organizations have signed a number of strategic cooperation documents with the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom. The documents were signed on the sidelines of the Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and Rosatom signed a memorandum of understanding with a view to expanding cooperation in the field of ecology.

The enterprise RUP Belarusian Radioactive Waste Management Organization and AO TVEL Fuel Company signed a cooperation agreement. TVEL Fuel Company is Rosatom's integrator for decommissioning installations with nuclear and radiation hazards and for managing radioactive waste. In line with the agreement the sides will team up to create and develop Belarus' infrastructure for burying radioactive waste. They will also work together to train personnel to operate radioactive waste burial sites, enable the operation and monitoring of radioactive waste burial sites.

Belarusian National Technical University and the Engineering and Technology Center GET (part of Rosatom's Rusatom Service division) signed an agreement on strategic R&D cooperation in the area of realization of joint projects. Plans are in place for preparing scientific and methodological materials in the area of mathematical modeling; training, advanced training, vocational training and simulator training; organization and conduct of joint seminars, conferences, hackathons, case championships and roundtables; study and implementation of best practices in the field of mathematical modeling. The agreement also provides for creating the joint educational project Modeling School at premises of Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU).

An agreement on cooperation in the field of realization of joint projects has been signed by ZAO International Business Alliance (IBA), OOO Rusatom Digital Solutions, and Rosatom's country office in Belarus OOO Rusatom Bel. The agreement envisages industrial cooperation in the area of digitization.

Director of Rosatom's country office in Belarus Stanislav Levitsky said: “When we started thinking about how we should offer innovative digital products on the Belarusian market, we decided that we'd better find a reliable local partner. International Business Alliance is this partner. It understands perfectly well Belarus' domestic market and can effectively offer our solutions. License agreements on individual products will be signed soon. There are proposals concerning the digital automation of routine business processes. They will allow accelerating the processes, reducing costs, and optimizing the workforce.” In his words, Rosatom is also interested in finding new developers for the sake of implementing projects in the Russian Federation and in third countries.
