Belarus’ ambassador, Voronezh Oblast governor discuss new projects

Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik held talks with Governor of Russia’s Voronezh Oblast Aleksandr Gusev, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.

Taking into account the goal to reach $1 billion in trade, the ambassador and the governor discussed the ongoing projects and new initiatives, considered at the meeting of the working group on the development of cooperation between Belarus and Voronezh Oblast. In particular, Belarus plans to take part in the renewal of Voronezh passenger transport with electric or gas-powered vehicles.

The topic of setting up a regional center of the Belarusian enterprise Pozhsnab was touched upon as well. Plans are in place to work out joint assembly production and its localization. As for microelectronics, the parties discussed a program of cooperation between the Belarusian Integral, Planar and Voronezh enterprises. There are also plans to launch the Belarusian Corner in Voronezh to feature light industry goods, and later, food products. The Voronezh Oblast authorities have already offered locations to Belarus.

During the visit, Aleksandr Rogozhnik and the Voronezh Oblast governor laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Victory Square in Voronezh and took part in the opening ceremony of the art object dedicated to the Russian writer and Nobel laureate Ivan Bunin, a native of Voronezh. A similar sculpture by Belarusian artist Aleksandr Slepov has been installed in Vitebsk. Aleksandr Gusev came up with the idea to put a replica in Voronezh during the 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.

The ambassador and the governor also attended a friendly match between Torpedo-BelAZ and Fakel Voronezh. The match, won by the Belarusian team, was held at the Fakel Stadium. Its large-scale reconstruction has been recently carried out by Belarusian specialists. According to the embassy, Belarusian builders will soon start the reconstruction of another large stadium in Voronezh.
