Ambassador: Belarus’ exports to Russia are up 4.7%

Exports of Belarusian goods to Russia increased by 4.7% in January-August 2024, Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik said at a meeting of the interdepartmental working group monitoring the situation with supplies to Russia, BelTA has learned.

“In January-August 2024, the plan to increase exports of Belarusian goods to Russia was met: up 4.7% as against the task for Q3 at 4%,” the ambassador said. He, however, drew the attention of representatives of ministries, regional executive committees, concerns and enterprises to the failure to fulfill export targets across some sectors and regions.  

The meeting focused on the problems and prospects of the Belarusian presence in the Russian market. The participants touched upon the possibility of taking protective measures for Belarusian products within the Union State and the EAEU, in particular, with regard to ceramic tiles and furniture. Aleksandr Rogozhnik instructed to audit the plans and roadmaps for cooperation between Belarus and Russian regions to make sure they contain specific construction projects, the number of machines and tractors to be supplied, the volume of food products, and so on.

The ambassador also warned that the heads of ministries, departments and authorities, who pay insufficient attention to the Russian regions assigned to them, could be brought to disciplinary responsibility. Aleksandr Rogozhnik paid special attention to the situation with the continuing restrictions on the supply of agricultural products of a number of Belarusian enterprises to the Russian market. “Representatives of the Agriculture and Food Ministry and the oblast executive committees have been tasked to promptly rectify the situation,” the press service said.

The meeting participants also discussed the prospects of establishing joint ventures in the Russian regions for the production of dairy products, supplies of Belarusian equipment for dairy farms. In addition, the ambassador instructed to pay special attention to the issues of compliance with the decree of the Supreme State Council of the Belarus-Russia Union State on a common industrial policy.
