Lukashenko signs decree to improve operations of customs authorities

On 22 January Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 31 aimed at improving the operations of customs authorities, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The document authorizes the customs authorities to check foreign carriers for required transit permits at domestic customs clearance points inside the country. Previously, it was stipulated that vehicular checks by customs authorities were conducted only at the border.

The decree will enhance the efficiency of monitoring international road transport within Belarus.
