The Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the initiator of the development of a number of programs and projects of the Union State.

The work of the scientific institution is devoted to research and development of innovative approaches in the field of biological sciences, with a focus on genetics, genomics and biotechnology. IGiC NAS cooperates with leading scientists and organizations of the Russian Federation. Part of the equipment of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology was purchased at the expense of the budget of the Union State. The Institute has a unique DNA bank for humans, animals, plants and microorganisms. The program of the Union State "DNA Identification-2" is highly ready on the Belarusian side.
