Belarus, Russia discuss cooperation in diplomatic training

Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi met in Moscow with the member of the board of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy Alexander Yakovenko, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

"The parties discussed the issues related to the training of personnel for the Belarusian diplomatic service and cooperation with the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus," the press service said. "Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi thanked the Russian side for the long-term cooperation in term of training highly qualified specialists for Belarus.”

The ambassador stated that Belarus has its own strong school for training specialists in the field of international relations. "At the same time, we recognize the effectiveness and relevance of cooperation with eminent Russian universities that train personnel for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially in terms of specialists with rare foreign languages," he stressed.

Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi also informed Alexander Yakovenko about the positive experience of short-term on-the-job internships. The parties noted that such a format of cooperation may be the most optimal today.

The Ambassador proposed to consider the possibility of signing cooperation agreements with interested government bodies and institutions of higher education in Belarus in furtherance of the agreements reached. He spoke about the proposal of Belarusian State University to conclude an agreement on academic cooperation, postgraduate and doctoral training, advanced training, as well as expert and academic cooperation on the international scientific agenda.

“The parties highly assessed the cooperation potential between the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The ambassador reaffirmed the interest of the Academy of Public Administration in intensifying cooperation with the Russian academy. This pertains to the participation of the faculty members and students of the Academy of Public Administration and the Diplomatic Academy in international conferences held in these educational institutions. One of them is an international conference to discuss the training of economic diplomacy personnel in the face of modern challenges and threats scheduled for the second half of 2023,” the press service noted.

“The parties confirmed their readiness to run mutual short-term internships for the faculty members and to invite leading teachers of the Diplomatic Academy to give lectures and run special courses on foreign policy and economic diplomacy of the Union State at the Academy of Public Administration,” the embassy added.

According to the press release on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Yakovenko invited Dmitry Krutoi to speak at the Diplomatic Academy at a convenient time.
