A delegation from the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) paid an official visit to Belarus. The key goals of the visit were to exchange experience in social partnership, to learn about the activities of Belarusian trade unions, and to identify possible areas for cooperation in the near future, BelTA learned from the press service of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.

A meeting between representatives of the FTUB and their colleagues from Russia’s Yakutia took place at the headquarters of the national trade union center. Members of the delegation from the Republic of Sakha learned in detail about the history of the trade union movement in Belarus and the structure of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.

During the meeting, FTUB Chairman Yuri Senko spoke in detail about the country’s established system of social partnership and the work of trade unions across a wide range of areas – from regulation of labor relations through collective agreements to organizing recreation and health improvement for workers. Special attention was paid to the development of international relations. Belarusian trade unions actively interact with colleagues from various countries. This includes both experience exchange and joint projects in different fields. The trade unions are ready to contribute to developing contacts in the economic sector, as economic growth creates new opportunities for increasing people’s incomes.

Valentina Kirillina, Deputy Chairwoman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Sakha, thanked the hosts for their warm welcome and expressed interest in studying the experience of their Belarusian colleagues, particularly in the area of supporting workers with family responsibilities, families, and motherhood. Valentina Kirillina also noted with great enthusiasm that 2026 has been declared the Year of the Belarusian Woman in Belarus, calling this decision a significant event that will allow for a new perspective on the role of working women in modern society.

Among the current topics touched upon by the parties were expanding cooperation between primary trade union organizations of large enterprises, and exchanging experience in improving labor legislation and in the field of trade union-sponsored health improvement.

Among the outcomes was a deal to sign a cooperation agreement linking the Minsk Oblast Association of Trade Unions with the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Sakha.

The further program for the delegation from Yakutia includes studying the activities of Belarusian trade unions regarding the specifics of legal regulation of social partnership, labor protection, and the system of trade union sanatoriums, as well as visiting major Belarusian enterprises, holding round tables, and meeting with the youth trade union representatives.
