"The tenth anniversary festival has got off to a successful start in Smolensk. I would like to emphasise that there is an additional symbolism this year in that Smolensk is the youth capital of the Russian Federation, while the city of Minsk is the youth capital of the Republic of Belarus," said Andrey Krivosheyev, Executive Director of the "Eurasia.DOC" festival and Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Union of Journalists.

Valery Shekhovtsov, Director of the International "Eurasia.DOC" CIS documentary film festival, in turn noted the wide geography of the festival's participants. "The festival brings together people from a great variety of countries besides Russia and Belarus. There are our friends from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. This year a representative of Moldova came and also made it onto the festival's shortlist, into the final. There are also our colleagues from China. For the second time, a film from Iran is taking part in the short programme," the speaker stressed.

So screenings of the festival's participating works began in Minsk today at the Pobeda Cinema and the House of Moscow. Audiences will see documentary films from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, as well as short film programmes. At 6:00 pm, a meeting is planned at the House of Moscow with jury member, festival expert, writer and political scientist Vladimir Sergiyenko.
The main day of the festival is 2 October. At 10:00 am, a round table titled "The Anniversary of the Outbreak of the Great Patriotic War.
