Russian parliamentary delegation visits Polotsk, Novopolotsk ahead of Forum of Regions

Delegations of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation visited Polotsk and Novopolotsk to inspect the facilities that will host the events of the 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned

On 6 June the delegations toured the venues in Vitebsk, and on 7 June they went to Polotsk and Novopolotsk that will host the discussion sessions. Representatives of the upper chambers of the parliaments of Belarus and Russia visited several sites, inspected the progress in the infrastructure reconstruction effort.

One of the major facilities is the former House of Officers. Built in 1939, destroyed during the war, it was restored in 1949. A couple of years ago it was handed over to St Euphrosyne Polotsk State University. The military department of the university will be housed there. The degree of readiness is 95%. The building was repaired and the adjacent territory was landscaped. In the next two weeks, the builders plan to complete the interior finishing works. During the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia this place will host a discussion panel into interregional cooperation as one of the important areas of the Union State development.

The delegations also visited the Cadet School, St. Sophia Cathedral, the Savior and St. Euphrosyne Convent, Polymir plant of Naftan oil refinery and other sites that will host the discussion panels during the forum.
