Russia to host Belarusian-Russian army exercise Union Shield on 22-26 September

The army exercise Shchit Soyuza [Union Shield] will take place in Russia on 22-26 September, BelTA learned from Head of the International Military Cooperation Department, Aide for International Military Cooperation to the Belarusian Defense Minister Valery Revenko.

Valery Revenko mentioned a considerable increase in cooperation with Russia for the sake of ensuring the defensive capability of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. It is particularly important in conditions of counteraction of current challenges and threats. In his words, Belarus-Russia interaction in the sphere of military security has always been productive. At present the military union is an indispensable condition for further development of both countries. Tight interaction with Russia at the strategic level will continue in 2023, too. There are plans to arrange over 150 various joint events, the official said.
The Belarusian-Russian joint operational exercise Shchit Soyuza [Union Shield] is among major operational and combat training events. It will take place in Russia's territory on 22-26 September.
