The Yaroslavl Oblast authorities are mulling over the launching of direct air service with Minsk, Governor of the Russian region Mikhail Evraev said as he met with Belarus' Ambassador to Russia Dmitri Krutoi on 16 August, BelTA has learned.

According to the governor, Yaroslavl Oblast cooperates with Belarus in a number of areas. Cooperation in industry is especially successful. However, tourism development is no less important for Yaroslavl, which is the center of the Russian Golden Ring. Residents of Yaroslavl Oblast express their wish to visit Minsk, Brest Fortress, Belovezhskaya Pushcha and other landmarks in Belarus.

“It would be great to open a direct flight to Minsk. The demand is very high. Simple logistics is important for cultural exchange and industry interaction,” Mikhail Evraev said.

In his words, Yaroslavl Oblast is considering to launch regular air service once or twice a week at first.
