Investment in the education system is a contribution to the future of our country, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a back-to-school ceremony at the Vishov secondary school in Belynichi District on 1 September, BelTA has learned.

“Our beloved homeland, our Republic of Belarus, consists of small settlements. We are here to emphasize once again that our country is not only the capital, large regional centers and towns of regional subordination, but also such agro-towns as your beautiful and dear Vishov. Of course, we are also here to congratulate you on Knowledge Day. I remember very well that day when I first went to school, as well as all the back-to-school ceremonies I attended until graduation. This day will always be one of the brightest in your life,” Roman Golovchenko said to the school students.

The prime minister stressed that school is an important place for every person, because it gives knowledge. “Knowledge is something without which it is impossible to live today, because our entire economy - not only Belarusian, but also global - is an economy of knowledge. Only with knowledge you can become an educated person and reach career and professional heights in life. Therefore, education is one of the key areas on which the attention of the country's leadership is focused. We are doing our best to create comfortable, safe and practical conditions for education," Roman Golovchenko said.

According to Roman Golovchenko, this year, as in previous years, new educational institutions will be opened throughout the country. On 1 September, four institutions of general secondary education will open their doors in Belarus. "Dozens of schools, hundreds of different types of educational institutions have been built in the country over the years of our independence," he continued. “This is because our country continues developing. So are young Belarusians. This year the school population will be more than 1 million. These guys make up the younger generation, who will soon replace us and take their rightful place in sovereign and independent Belarus. We are investing everything we can in our education system because that is where the future of our country lies."

The prime minister expressed special gratitude to the teachers who put their heart, soul and knowledge into the education and upbringing of the younger generation. Roman Golovchenko congratulated parents and children on the beginning of the new school year and wished it to be joyful and unforgettable. Then he attended the lesson "Historical memory - the road to the future", talked with first-graders and presented them with gifts from the president - the book "Belarus is Our Motherland".
