Orthodox Christians mark Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday is the commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, when he established the sacrament of Holy Communion prior to his arrest and crucifixion, BELTA has learned.

The holy day falls on the Thursday before Easter and is part of Holy Week. This year Holy Thursday fell on 2 May. Holy Thursday is also called Cleaning Thursday. On this day people clean their houses, put their thoughts in order to prepare for Easter.
