Number of flights between Belarus, Russia doubles in 2023

“Russia and Belarus are united by friendly and fruitful cooperation. Air communication helps us develop humanitarian and economic ties. I am pleased to note that the number of flights between our states doubled last year. Today, together with our Belarusian colleagues, we are launching a new direct air route. It will connect Moscow with Brest, a great city of our common military glory. Belavia will perform regular flights twice a week. I am sure the new flights will be popular and will strengthen ties between the peoples of our countries,” Vitaly Savelyev said.

According to him, it is symbolic that the air service between Moscow and Brest opens in April, when the two countries celebrate the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. “I congratulate our passengers on another convenient route,” he emphasized.

State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Dmitry Mezentsev noted that at high-level meetings of the Union State Council of Ministers heads of Belarusian regions and heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation - first of the European part, and now of the entire country (regions of Siberia and the Far East) - almost always raise the issue of more flights, first of all from the regional centers of Belarus. There are already flights from Gomel to Moscow and St. Petersburg. Today’s flight will connect Moscow and Brest.

He added that flights will soon be launched from the Belarusian capital to Arkhangelsk and Makhachkala, most likely in April. The parties are mulling over flights to Vladikavkaz, Volgograd, Omsk, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk and a number of other Russian cities. “We are expanding our tourism potentials, opening our geography, our cities, towns, villages, our space, and thus our soul to each other. This is very important,” Dmitry Mezentsev stressed.
