More than 3.5 thousand lifeguards will provide safety during the New Year celebrations in Belarus

‘More than 3.5 thousand rescuers will be on duty during the New Year holidays,’ Igor Gulyakevich, deputy head of the main department of emergency services and emergency response of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told a press conference at the National Press Centre of Belarus.

According to the speaker, during the New Year and Christmas celebrations, emergency agencies and units will be on increased duty. On duty will be more than 3.5 thousand rescuers, as well as 1.3 thousand units of fire and rescue equipment.
‘State fire supervision bodies have implemented a set of organisational and practical measures, conducted supervisory and preventive measures. Particular attention was paid to the training of facility personnel, the condition of passages and entrances to facilities, the serviceability of fire automation systems. Currently, there are no issues in fire safety that could affect the celebrations,’ said Igor Gulyakevich.
He also pointed out that in the places of events with mass participation of citizens in the capital and other cities of the country, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will control the provision of fire safety.
‘If necessary, the redeployment of forces and means of subdivisions will be organised, taking into account the places of mass festivities in order to ensure the prompt arrival of fire and rescue equipment,’ stressed the deputy head of the main department.
Igor Gulyakevich added that the bodies and units of emergency situations are ready to perform tasks to prevent emergencies and prompt response to them.
‘The ongoing and planned work will be aimed at ensuring the safety of festive events,’ summed up the speaker.
