The sanatoriums operated at maximum occupancy during the summer period. This was reported at a press conference by Gennady Bolbatovsky, Director of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium‑Resort Treatment of the Population, as reported by a Soyuz.by correspondent.

“We have traditionally observed increased demand. More than 600,000 people underwent treatment and health improvement at our facilities. Occupancy during the summer period was at its maximum — over 90 percent. Speaking about September, I can state that for several years now, September has traditionally been as busy as the summer months, so the occupancy rate was also around 90 percent. As for November, we are seeing a booking depth of 74 percent; New Year’s and December periods are also selling actively,” he said.

Speaking about the interim results for the first nine months, Bolbatovsky noted that revenue from medical and wellness services increased by 12 percent and exceeded 1 billion 88 million rubles. Positive dynamics are also observed in exports: over the nine‑month period, 200,000 foreign citizens came to the country, and export revenue grew by 15 percent, amounting to 476 million rubles.

“Over the nine months, we are seeing positive dynamics in strengthening the material and technical base. The sanatoriums spent one and a half times more on equipment purchases, construction, and reconstruction than in the same period last year. This amount for the nine months totals 194 million rubles; for comparison, last year this figure was lower — 140 million rubles,” the center’s director added.

He also highlighted the children’s summer health improvement campaign. The Republican Center was allocated 84 million rubles for this purpose.

“Using these funds as subsidies and for preparing for the summer health campaign enabled us to organize health improvement activities for 404,000 children. This is a record figure compared to the previous year. We can say that all children who wanted to and needed to take part in health improvement programs did so during the summer campaign. The therapeutic and health‑improvement effect was assessed by the Ministry of Health and amounted to 96 percent,” Gennady Bolbatovsky emphasized.

He also noted that socially vulnerable groups of children were covered as fully as possible: over 12,000 orphans and more than 7,000 children with disabilities underwent health improvement during the summer. The children’s summer campaign took place without any emergencies or outbreaks of mass illnesses.

“The autumn holidays are just around the corner — from November 1 to 8. The Republican Center, together with the Ministry of Education, will organize health improvement programs in camps during the autumn holiday period. It is planned that about 70,000 children will take part in these programs, including during the autumn period,” Bolbatovsky concluded.
