The Belarusian cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya and Hero of Russia, Belarus’ native, Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky arrived in Zvyozdny Gorodok outside Moscow in the evening on 6 April after a 14-day orbital flight, BelTA has learned.
The space explorers will undergo medical exams and post-flight rehabilitation in Zvyozdny Gorodok.
In Zvyozdny Gorodok Marina Vasilevskaya and Oleg Novitsky met a warm welcome by their relatives, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia Darya Shmanai, and top officials of the Russian space agency Roscosmos.
Vladimir Gusakov conveyed greetings and congratulations from Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the cosmonauts. “We will await you in Belarus,” he confirmed the head of state’s invitation.
Oleg Novitsky reported to the chairperson of the state commission that the space flight program had been successfully completed.
The meeting did not last long because medics had advised staying at least several meters away from the cosmonauts. This is why multiple flower bouquets were passed to Marina Vasilevskaya and Oleg Novitsky via medics.
