He said that over the years the forum has become a reputable international platform where leading humanities universities of the CIS share knowledge, ideas and best practices. The most important tasks of the forum are aligned with humanitarian cooperation purposes defined by the CIS development concept.

The forum's Coordination Council is doing a great deal of work to promote integration. "The current meeting of representatives of leading humanities universities and faculties of the CIS countries is taking place in the year of the Russian Federation's chairmanship in the CIS. The forum was hosted by the Russian State University for the Humanities, the base training center in history education. I am confident that the Coordinating Council will have an engaged discussion and make decisions on expansion of contacts between humanities universities of the CIS. This will undoubtedly contribute to the development and strengthening of the common humanitarian, educational and scientific space of the CIS countries," - Sergei Lebedev said.

The forum was organized by the Russian State University for the Humanities, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, the Scientific Council on Complex Problems of Eurasian Modern History and Culture and the Russian Society of Historians and Archivists. The forum is meant to be a regular platform for effective exchange between the heads of leading humanities universities of the CIS countries and for the development and implementation of joint innovative projects in order to achieve a new level of educational, scientific and cultural integration in the Commonwealth.
