Belarusian writers will take part in the Russian project Book Train, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Writers' Union Aleksei Cherota said during a press conference to take stock of the 32nd edition of the Minsk International Book Fair, BelTA has learned.

Aleksei Cherota noted that the Book Train was a significant event for the exhibition. "It came to us from Saint Petersburg and continued its long journey across Russia. We have already reached agreements with the Russian Writers' Union and the project organizers to ensure that Belarusian authors will participate in the future. This will allow us to showcase contemporary Belarusian literature in many regions of the Russian Federation," he said.

Aleksei Cherota also emphasized that every event within the framework of the book fair was very important. "As usual, numerous agreements were reached, and many personal contacts were established between writers and creative organizations from various countries. There were agreements regarding new translations. For example, we received a poem by a 20th-century poet from Dagestan dedicated to Khatyn. Many works written in the CIS countries are directly related to our country. I believe that Belarusian readers will become familiar with them in the future, including in Belarusian," he stated.
