Belarusian Education Minister Andrei Ivanets met with Russian Science and Higher Education Minister Valery Falkov in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia within the framework of the 10th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. Key avenues of cooperation in education were discussed, BelTA has learned.

Among other things Andrei Ivanets and Valery Falkov discussed the development of an R&D program of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. In line with the joint resolution of the boards of the Belarusian Education Ministry, Belarus' State Committee on Science and Technology, Russia's Science and Higher Education Ministry, and Russia's Education Ministry work is now in progress to prepare and make the decision on developing a Union State R&D program on science-intensive composite materials and hybrid materials. The program is designed to accomplish a set of applied tasks of current interest in rapidly developing branches of modern chemical, nuclear physics, and engineering technologies, which require the development and introduction of a broad range of science-intensive hybrid composite materials.

The sides also discussed sending Russians to study at Belarusian-Russian University in order to receive advanced engineering qualifications in the area of mechanical engineering and additive technologies within the framework of employer-sponsored education schemes for Russian enterprises and organizations. The other cooperation avenues Andrei Ivanets and Valery Falkov discussed included the organization of the 3rd republican forum of young scientists of higher education institutions in 2024. It was noted during the meeting that young scientists from Russian higher education institutions should be invited to participate in the forum. Organizing a joint session of the boards of the Belarusian Education Ministry, Belarus' State Committee on Science and Technology, Russia's Science and Higher Education Ministry, and Russia's Education Ministry in Mogilev in September was also suggested.

As part of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia Andrei Ivanets visited polylingual multidisciplinary gymnasium No.2 and polylingual kindergarten No.202 in Ufa where he was made familiar with the physical infrastructure and education and nurturing conditions of these education institutions.

Bashkortostan is a leading Russian region in the promotion of polylingual education. The quality of the education process and the introduction of instruction in foreign languages bring more and more students, who are willing to go to the multidisciplinary schools.
