Belarus names number of student sponsorship places at educational institutions for new academic year

The Education Ministry of Belarus named the number of places envisaged for employer-sponsored students at the country’s colleges and universities for the new academic year, BelTA has learned.

As for secondary special education in the upcoming admission campaign, student sponsorship programs are avaliable in more than 70 specialties with 890 places allocated. “More than 150 organizations are ready to interact with motivated applicants and colleges to train qualified specialists. Among the most in-demand specialties are “engineering and engineering business”, “forestry”, “architecture and construction”. Among the most popular are also “operation and adjustment of automated equipment of machine-building production”, “installation and operation of electrical equipment”, and specialties in maintenance and repair of vehicles,” the ministry said.

More than 400 organizations have applied for employer-sponsored places in higher education institutions of the country. “The total number of employer-sponsored places in the universities of our country reaches 5,300, including 2,300 for medical specialties, 1,200 for agricultural specialties. Among the specialists in demand are electric power and electrical engineering; engineering networks, equipment of buildings and structures; jurisprudence; forestry,” the ministry said.

The number of applications submitted for specialized secondary or higher education on the terms of student sponsorship programs is not limited. “Everyone can apply. Applicants are required to present a set of documents to the university or college, including an employer-sponsored agreement signed by the student-to-be and the sponsoring organization,” the Education Ministry added.
