Directive No. 12 “On implementing fundamental principles of the ideology of the Belarusian state” was a response to the request of the society, Culture Minister Ruslan Chernetsky told BelTA.

“The request that has been in the air for 30 years has recently been put on paper. A country cannot do without ideology. Ideology incorporates values that are important for our nation, and messages that we need to convey not only to ourselves, but also to the outside world. The recent years have bolstered the argument that living without an idea is wrong. Therefore, such a document has emerged and has been signed by the president. The goals and objectives set out in the directive will help us move forward more efficiently, as people in our country and the world will know what position we stick to, who we are, what we defend, and what is important to us,” Ruslan Chernetsky is sure.

The minister emphasized that the directive was very timely. “There was a request from society, Belarusians. After all, ideology is, in essence, an idea, a goal that society is moving towards. It articulates how we see the future, what we strive for,” he noted.

“I can say that the Culture Ministry implemented the ideological messages set out in the directive long before it was signed. Culture is a very powerful tool to promote the Belarusian national ideology. We have been moving in this direction for quite a long time and will only double down on it,” Ruslan Chernetsky added.
