Academy of Sciences names popular potato varieties among Belarusians

Vadim Makhanko, Director General of the Scientific and Practical Center for Potato and Vegetable Growing of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), revealed varieties of domestic potatoes popular among Belarusians in the Vremya Pervogo [Time of the First] project on the First News TV channel, BelTA has learned.

According to the director general, twice a year the Scientific and Practical Center and other NASB organizations involved in potato cultivation sell seed potatoes to the public. “People come and say: ‘We want the same varieties that the president has’,” Vadim Makhanko said.
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, during his recent working trip to Mogilev Oblast, disclosed which potato varieties he grows on his own field. According to the Belarusian leader, these are Briz, Pershatsvet, and Garantiya.
