Union parliamentarians will discuss the Chernobyl program and new projects of the Union State for environmental safety

The Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on Natural Resources, Ecology, and Environmental Protection will hold a meeting on February 25 in Minsk and Moscow via video conference, according to the press service of the Assembly.

"The parliamentarians will consider the preparation of a joint proposal for the development of the Union State program 'Program of joint activities of Belarus and Russia within the Union State to overcome the negative consequences of the Chernobyl accident,'" the press service said. In addition, the agenda includes discussions on the preparation of new Union State projects to modernize and develop the Union State's radiation monitoring system using mobile radiometric measurement platforms, as well as ensuring environmental safety in the field of waste management and secondary resources in the Union State.

Representatives of the Permanent Committee of the Union State, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus and Russia, the hydrometeorological services of the two countries, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation have been invited to participate in the meeting.
