Minsk hosts meeting of CIS permanent representatives

CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev noted that one of the main issues on the agenda would be the preparations for the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council, which is scheduled to take place in Moscow on 10-11 December. According to him, about 28 items are expected to be included in the draft agenda. These encompass the development of the timber industry, certain areas of industrial cooperation, radionavigation, healthcare, the strengthening of health systems in the CIS states, financial matters, as well as holding a film festival.

The meeting participants will also discuss preparations for the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council to be held on 7 October, and the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council scheduled for 9 October in Avaza, Turkmenistan. Sergey Lebedev pointed out that one of the main items on the agenda would be a statement in connection with the 35th anniversary of the CIS founding.

The CIS secretary general also informed that the meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives will review the work of the CIS Council of Heads of TV and Radio Organizations for 2023–2025. According to him, the Mir TV and radio company has joined the council. Furthermore, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, which are formally not members of the council, interact with it and may join its work.

The meeting also plans to consider issues regarding the award of CIS certificates of honor and other matters of the organization’s current activities. Sergey Lebedev noted that the 35th anniversary of the CIS is accompanied by a wide range of events.

On this day, a solemn ceremony for the official first-day cancellation of an illustrated envelope with an original stamp dedicated to the CIS anniversary was also held in Minsk.
