Lukashenko informed about Belarus’ energy industry status amid bad weather

The key task is to ensure reliable supply of electricity and heating to households and promptly respond to possible non-routine situations. The head of state pays close attention to the matter.

The deputy prime minister presented a report on the situation in the country on 27-28 January in the period of deteriorating weather conditions. Power disruptions were registered in 475 populated localities. Of them 450 localities have had their power supply restored according to the standard scheme. Instructions have been given to complete the relevant work in the other populated localities on 28 January. No backbone power lines have experienced disruptions so far.

The president was informed that Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast had been hit worst while Vitebsk Oblast had been partially affected. As many as 690 crews fitted with modern equipment and vehicles are available for repair work in the country. If necessary, they can be redeployed to any affected region.

The report to the president also covered matters concerning the centralized heating of populated localities. The work has been organized according to the standard routine for now. No disruptions of centralized heating systems have been registered. Measures have been taken to reduce the workload of heat supply networks. Viktor Karankevich informed that the necessary standards for heating the housing stock, social facilities, and administrative buildings are being observed.

It was noted that on the whole, in the last few years Belarusian energy industry specialists implemented a set of measures to prevent the emergence of non-routine situations and minimize disruptions caused by bad weather. This work will continue.
